So in love I slept with them

Don't they make a beautiful couple?
Is it wrong that I slept with this:

I even licked it a little. And whispered words of love and devotion to it.
~~~~~
So, all those times I made fun of geeks for getting in line early for a midnight release of something and all of those times I rolled my eyes and all of those times I said, "You wouldn't see ME out at midnight for some stupid game!"...well, I owe you an apology. I won't actually give you one, but I do owe you one.
Monday night around 11:00pm I found myself in the electronics department at Wal-Mart with 2 other geeks WoW players.
I met up with Jordan, a saxophonist who has been playing WoW since back in the day of 2004ish. (The cult got him early.) He, too, was hoping to score a copy of the Collector's Edition since he scored one of the originals. (I hear you, Jordan! I was a bit freaked thinking I would have to play without knowing I had that big box announcing my cult membership.) He knew way more about this game than I could ever hope to know.
And then there was Doug who writes for Beckett Gaming. Leave it to me to end up with strangers and the writer in me strikes up a conversation with an editorial director of a magazine. And I didn't even hit him up to write for him or for him to write up this whole momblogger turned gamer experience. But it was late and I was obsessing about getting a copy of the CE. I learned a lot more about gaming and WoW just from this time spent talking.
Jordan and Doug were great companions to keep me entertained and educated while we waited.
As we waited for midnight, David--a store employee-- came by and told us and three other people that the store received six copies of Burning Crusade CE. Since there was six of us waiting patiently and rather well behaved that we would each be able to purchase the game. (I was number 3 thankyouverymuch!) We were told to go wait by the register and we would get our copy at midnight. (There was much rejoicing--in our well mannered way.)
Meanwhile, at a WalMart miles away sat my unsocial husband who didn't actually "meet" anyone but rather spoke briefly with others in his line. (Have I taught him nothing??)
Which leads us to the question: Who gets the Collector's Edition? The teen boy who brought WoW into the house in the first place? The tween who really wants to have something cool that his friends don't have? The husband who really knows more about this game than God Himself? Or me? Because Blizzard loves me?
What do you think?
Hell yes it is mine.
Sorry boys! I love you. I will send you to a good college. I will even get you a regular copy of the Burning Crusade. But unless another collector's edition becomes available and I can get it, you are--how do they say it-- out of luck. Boy that sounds harsh. Bad mom.
Oh well. All is fair in love and WoW.
An Open (love) letter to the creators of World of Warcraft
Dear (beloved) Creators of World of Warcraft,
How could you? How could make fall in love with playing WoW and do it in a way in which the timing is such that I didn't realize I was in love until it was too late to order my copy of the Burning Crusade Collector's Edition? I mean, you hooked me up with the CE edition of WoW when I was still such a noob. You even sent me the key to my heart anytime-- t-shirts! And after months of alpha testing and beta testing I discover I won't be able to have a collector's edition of BC. Oh, Blizzard, what have you done to me? Why did you not warn me about the shortage or CE's? Why did you not prepare me and let me know that even though when we found each other I could never understand it, but one day I would want a CE and should pre-order it? Why? Whyyyyyyyyyy?
I weep.
How can I live without my vanity pet? And knowing there is a new one coming? How can I look over at just a regular expansion pack edition without anyone's signature? Was this part of the plan? Are you breaking up with me? Please don't break up with me. Or is this your way of saying you want to see other players? So soon? I mean, I thought we had something special. You know, the whole "we will make you ours" type of relationship we had going? Remember how you said I amuse you? Is the magic gone?
Is the the fact I haven't mooned you yet? I will! I name all of my characters something "moon" related. That's for you, my friends. All for you.
And now, on the eve of the BC release, I weep that I was not indoctrinated into your cult sooner. If I had only known.
If I had only known.
But I still love you. I didn't want to. I tried not to. But we are helpless as to what our heart feels. You had me at "vanity pet."
Begrudgingly yours,
Jenn
ps- When is the next expansion pack coming out? What's next? Can I put my name on the waiting list NOW?! I mean to avoid this heartbreak between us.
You made me love you
I didn't want to do it, I didn't want to do it
You made me love you
and all the time you knew it
I guess you always knew it.
You made me happy sometimes, you made me glad
But there were times, Dear, you made me feel so bad
You made me sigh for, I didn't want to tell you
I didn't want to tell you
I want some love that's true, yes I do, deed I do, you know I do
Give me, give me, give me what I cry for
you know you got the brand of kisses that I'd die for
You know you made me love you
A tie? COME ON!
We are officially tied with Rogue and Warlock. Who is going to break the tie? I want to get on this. Remember to let me know male or female as well as Alliance or Horde. And all those other things as well. You want to name him/her? Go for it.
Bring it on!
[UPDATE] I am going to start my new character tomorrow (Thursday the 28th). You have until mid-day then to decide names, sex, alliance/horde/, race, profession etc. Come on, WoWies. Mama wants to start fresh and this is your chance to pretty much decide what I will be blogging about. And how disastrous this can be for me, you and Blizzard in general.
Big fun!
I have better things to do than fill out TPS reports
How could I not post this?! Two of my favorite things combined: Office Space and World or Warcraft.
You can download your own copy at Blizzard. Say hi to The Bobs for me.
